The mindset shift that changed everything for me (and my pitching) | Booked by email series ep. 3
Welcome back to the Booked by Email mini-series! This is episode three, and today I want to talk about something a little different — but absolutely essential.
Because here’s the truth: you can have the best pitch email templates in the world (and by now, you probably do if you’ve downloaded my Steal My Client Emails freebie 👇), but if you’re too afraid to hit send, nothing happens.
In this post, I’m sharing the mindset shift that completely changed pitching for me — and how it helped me go from frozen with fear to confidently sending pitches that got replies, bookings, and long-term clients.
My Fear of Pitching
I’ll be honest: I used to be terrified of pitching.
It wasn’t because I didn’t know how to do it. I understood that all I needed to do was write an email. But the fear of what the person on the other side might think of me stopped me dead in my tracks.
I was afraid of:
Looking desperate.
Annoying someone “important.”
Saying the wrong thing.
Hearing “no.”
Or worse, hearing nothing at all.
So instead of sending emails, I’d spend hours researching brands, brainstorming ideas, and crafting pitches… only to never actually send them.
Sound familiar?
The Mindset Shift That Changed Everything
One day, I reframed the entire idea of pitching.
Instead of thinking, “I’m bothering them,” I started thinking:
👉 “I’m offering something that is genuinely helpful.”
Because that’s all pitching is. It’s saying:
“Hey, I love your brand. Here’s how I could help you.”
That’s it. It’s a conversation starter, not a desperate plea.
Once I understood that, everything changed. I stopped being scared to pitch. I knew the value I was bringing to the table. And that confidence showed in my emails.
As a result:
My pitches improved.
I got more replies.
I booked more work.
And it wasn’t because I was shouting the loudest or being pushy — it was because I was intentional, thoughtful, and focused on what the brand needed, not just what I wanted.
A Question to Ask Yourself Before Hitting Send
The next time you hesitate to pitch, remind yourself of this:
💡 If I truly believed in the value of my work, would I still be afraid to send this?
Because here’s the truth:
Your photography helps brands make money.
That is hugely valuable.
And you deserve to be seen.
But people aren’t psychic. If you don’t tell them what you can do, they won’t know.
