My Summer Beauty Essentials

I don't know about you, but by the time Summer roles around, make up seems to become less and less common on my face! In the Winter, when it's cold and dark, I feel much more inclined to wear more make up. That being said, I don't think I'm the only one.

Cornish summers are slightly different to what I grew up with. In Switzerland, our summers could get really quite hot, and temperatures normally sit at about 24-25°C, much warmer than the 18-19°C average we get in Cornwall. So sweaty faces aren't so much of a problem. Make up just isn't something I can be bothered with in summer. Maybe it's because of the added fake tan on my face that helps make my complexion look more "alive," but whatever it is, I like it.

That being said, it's also very rare for me to go totally make up free. My mum kindly bought me the "Erborian" CC Cream a couple of weeks ago, and I've been addicted to it ever since. It's like putting magic on your face! The cream comes out white, and when you rub it into your skin, it changes colour to match your skin tone. I love this, especially for days when I really don't want to do much at all, but I still want a nice complexion.

If you've been reading my blog for a while then you will also know that I'm not a massive fan of liquid foundations. I have a couple that I use, but 80% of the time, my go to is a powder foundation. I've been purchasing Laura Mercier's powder foundations for years now, but lets face it, it's expensive stuff, so I've recently been using the Bourjois "Healthy Balance" powder, which does just as good a job, but for a fraction of the price!

Another new discovery has been the L'Oreal "Miss Hippie" waterproof mascara. I've never been interested in owning a waterproof mascara... until recently. It dawned on me that I would be doing some swimming in Ibiza, but that I didn't want make up down my face. So I headed to Superdrug and picked up this mascara, without thinking too much about it. I kid you not, this stuff is my new obsession. Not only does it make my lashes look super long, it doesn't budge an inch underwater, and (even better) I can wear this to the gym without worrying that I'll look like a clown! Win win.

So what else has been making an appearance on my face? Well, a bit of bronzer (not pictured, because its so old it looked gross), a touch of "Orgasm" blush by NARS, occasionally some tinted lipgloss by Revlon, the odd highlight using "Watts Up" by Benefit, and my all time favourite eye shadow pallet; the L'Oreal La Palette Nude in "Beige."

What do you wear on your face in the summer? Are you like me in that you like to keep it toned down? Or do you get more excited about bright colours like some people I know? I'd love to know!
